The Register of Deeds office holds a unique and essential position in Dickinson County government. As the designated custodian of county land records, vital records, and related documents, this office preserves the foundation of property rights and personal history within our community.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The Register of Deeds shall record:

  • Deeds
  • Powers of Attorney
  • Mortgages
  • City and County Resolutions
  • Surveys
  • City and County Ordinances
  • Death Certificates
  • Honorable Military Discharges (not public)
  • State and Federal Tax Lien
  • Affidavits
  • Uniform Commercial Codes (UCC)
  • Plats
  • Miscellaneous documents
  • Additional documents as set forth by Kansas statutes

As the Register of Deeds, I oversee the custody, indexing, and provide public access to county land and vital records. I am the Recorder of Documents (K.S.A. 19-1204), not a researcher or a surveyor. Comprehensive records searches are outside our scope and are best handled by Title Companies or Abstract Offices. 

We DO NOT preform title searches for the public, we supply public access to records as well as maintain all records recorded in our office. We ask if you are requesting documents to provide us with the Book and Page numbers as this will help when obtaining those documents.
