This is a general public health nursing position with work involving direct footcare services for senior clientele in the clinic setting. Work encompasses skin assessment of lower extremities and feet, along with appropriate nail trimming with various tools, skin treatment and proper documentation of footcare service that is provided. Work is performed with professional independence and in accordance with established department policies and procedures.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with all countywide and departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide foot care services per agency protocol and maintain appropriate documentation
- Assess and counsel client’s and/or family in meeting health needs including health promotion, as it relates to footcare. Make appropriate referrals, as deemed necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles of nursing practice.
- Ability to provide skilled nursing care based on scientific principles, basic behavioral concepts and intelligent professional judgment.
- Ability to exercise tact, initiative and good judgment in dealing with people.
- Maintain confidentiality of all records.
- Good computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Proper use of grammar and spelling.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using the English language.
- Skills in organization, mathematical processes, time management and a high degree of computer proficiency.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with others.

Certificate Needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. A thorough knowledge of nursing assessment and clinical skills is required. The ability to operate medical and office equipment is necessary. Excellent written and oral communication skills are also required. This employee must be able to maintain confidentiality.
EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION
One to three years of similar or related experience is recommended, but not required. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within 6 months of employment.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Kansas.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Must have an LPN/RN license in the State of Kansas or have a temporary permit to practice, in the State of Kansas, issued by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
Certification in CPR
Valid Kansas Driver’s License
