Dickinson County is seeking a qualified Emergency Communications Dispatcher for a part-time (PRN) role to enhance our dedicated 911 dispatch team. If you are APCO Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certified and excel in high-pressure environments, we invite you to apply for this critical position within our dispatch center. Hours and schedule for this position include weekends, holidays, and shift work, utilizing open shift scheduling. With this system, available shifts will be posted a month in advance, and the part-time employee can sign up based on their availability.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with all countywide and departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide advanced dispatch support and decision-making for critical incidents.
- Receive, record and respond to requests for assistance from citizens, responders and outside agencies.
- Mentor and support Communications Officer I staff through on-the-job training and guidance.
- Continuously update criminal history and warrants databases ensuring historical accuracy and security.
- Dispatch personnel and equipment for various emergency services agencies.
- Relay information to city and county service agencies.
- Research and relay criminal history information.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of complex computer and electronic systems; report any technical discrepancies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.

Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled or determined by the Assistant Director
Certificate Needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified applicants cannot have any felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION
Must be APCO EMD certified
Must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience in an Emergency Communications Center.
Demonstrated high degree of proficiency in computer and communications systems.
