Earth Adventure Balloon

Join Us

On April 7th, 2008 local area students from McKinley, Garfield, and St. Andrew's schools had the chance to participate in an Earth Adventure Program using the Earth Balloon, taking students on an interactive and captivating journey around and inside the earth. It is a large inflatable model of the earth. It is 22 ft. in diameter, inflated with a fan. The whole class was able to enter the balloon through a zipper in the Pacific Ocean.

The Earth Balloon is made of satellite photographs that were taken high above our earth. These special photos allow us to look at the earth without any clouds blocking the view. We saw mountains, rivers, deserts, rain forests, islands, and oceans. With the Earth Balloon, we will visit places that are very different from where we live.

A special "Free Family Night Program" was available from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the same evening. All ages were welcome to attend.

This event was made possible through The Dickinson County Environmental Services and grant funding from U.S. EPA Section 319 Grant funds provided by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
